If someone were to ask me, “What’s one piece of advice you have for newly-engaged brides planning their wedding?” My first response would be: Hire some really great vendors that understand your vision and do work that you truly love. As a close second, I would challenge them to really try and think outside the box to add some details to their day that are truly unique and truly representative of them as a couple! This day is about you. It’s about your love and the adventure that lies ahead for just the two of you. I absolutely love it when the bride and groom incorporate unique parts of themselves into their wedding day.
Anna & Keith did just that! I loved seeing these gorgeous images from Caitlin & Ryan and learning about all the ways this couple made their day especially unique and especially theirs, with the help of awesome wedding planner/coordinator/floral designer Jessica Ormond.
Anna and Jessica (her wedding planner) started calling her wedding Southwest Glam. McPherson Cellars venue was the perfect backdrop to pull off this theme! She loved the southwest colors and textures but did not want anything rustic. They used cacti, succulents, and air plants with vibrant, full spring flowers in a Southwestern palette and gold accents. They also included local cotton as nod to Lubbock (where they met) and Anna’s home state of Georgia. Now we can’t forget about the groom! Instead of a groom’s cake, Keith chose to have Whiskey, Shiner, and Chocolate Brownie Truffles!
Lastly, I love how this couple used such a beautiful celebration to bless others! Anna & Keith donated their centerpiece flowers after the wedding. Jessica repurposed the arrangements into bedside vases for Interim Hospice to deliver to their patients, and I can’t think of a better use for these gorgeous blooms! I started this post by saying weddings are all about you! And it’s true. It’s also a way for you as a couple to start out your marriage by thinking of others. This small act of kindness just shows the true character of this couple, and we are so excited to have them as a part of the Hitched family!
And if you aren’t completely in love with this precious couple already, here are a few words from Anna about how they met: “Keith and I met when we sat next to each other in our first graduate school class. He thought I was cute and I thought he was hot, but kind of a jerk because he was trying to be very serious about school rather than being social. We started studying together and when I had a cookout at my apartment (for my birthday), he was the only one who stayed and helped me clean up. Then I found out he’s really a big softy and a goofball in addition to being hot! I had just moved to Texas and had never even heard of two-stepping, so on one of our first dates he taught me how in his kitchen. That’s why we had a two-step as our first dance. (: “
